Getting Here By Car

South Hill Park Arts Centre is in the Birch Hill area of Bracknell. This is about a 7 minute drive from the town centre, just off the A322 Bagshot Road near the Hilton Bracknell Hotel.

It is accessible from both the M3 (Junction 3) and the M4 (Junction 10), and is just 20 minutes from Reading town centre, and 25 minutes from Maidenhead or Slough.

We are well sign posted. Look for the brown road signs saying ‘Arts Centre’ or showing a comedy mask.

Parking

Free Parking is available at South Hill Park for up to 200 cars. Overflow parking is available in the car park opposite South Hill Park and also at Birch Hill Shopping Centre (at the rear of the mansion grounds) which can be found at:

Birch Hill Shopping Centre is a short, well-lit walk away from South Hill Park. The path leads across the rear mansion grounds and takes no more than five minutes.

Please arrive in plenty of time to get a parking space as we cannot guarantee spaces, especially at busy times.

Using Public Transport

By Train

Bracknell is well served with trains from London Waterloo, Reading and towns in the surrounding area, into Bracknell or Martins Heron stations. The central bus station is just outside Bracknell station or there is a taxi rank. Martins Heron station is not currently served by a bus route and does not have a taxi rank.

Bracknell Station is an approximate 35min walk to South Hill Park or 10min taxi journey.
Martins Heron is an approximate 40min walk to South Hill Park or 10min taxi journey.

By Bus

Bracknell is well served with bus services from Reading, London Victoria and towns in the surrounding area. There is a taxi rank just outside the central train station across the road from the Bus Station.

There are various bus routes that take you right next to the park. Including the 194,172 and 171. The Thames Valley Buses 194 goes from Bracknell Bus Station to Camberley Railway Station and vice versa. The Thames Valley Buses 171 and 172 go from Bracknell Bus Station to Knightswood and then back around to Bracknell High Street.

Destination: Birch Hill (171/172), Sainsbury’s (171/172), Haversham Drive (194).

It costs £25,000 a week to keep South Hill Park open, allowing us to run our vast community outreach programme

Visitors

We welcome 220,000 visitors annually with 185,000 participating in our arts programme

Learning and Participation

5000 people of all ages join our courses and workshops with 2000 students taking part in community activities

In-house Productions

We host 21 amateur theatre and music groups each year, and produce up to 6 in-house productions annually to help encourage local talent

Schools

We provide local primary and secondary schools with workshops, classes, tours, lessons and talks with industry professionals, and offer holiday activities for over 160 young people

Dementia Friendly Screenings

We show 12 dementia-friendly screenings a year in our cinema, specially-designed for people living with dementia and their carers

Resident Companies

We house 3 resident theatre and dance companies for young people

Volunteers

We support over 100 volunteers and annually provide 20 work experience places for students from the arts
