Information for Disabled Visitors

South Hill Park Arts Centre aims to be welcoming to everyone, making the arts accessible to all our visitors. We are committed to ensuring your visit is as easy and enjoyable as possible.

If necessary please tell us of your special needs at the time of booking so that our staff are ready for your visit.

Venues

All performances, conference rooms and courses are accessible to wheelchair users.

There are automatic doors to the Mansion entrance and Wilde Theatre.

Ramped access is available to the following main facilities:

  • Reception,
  • Box Office,
  • Wilde Theatre,
  • Atrium Bar,
  • and conference rooms.

Lift access is available to the following facilities:

  • Cellar Bar,
  • The Coach House,
  • Recital Room,
  • A number of course studios,
  • Various gallery spaces,
  • and McAllister’s performance space.

 

Wilde Theatre space

There are a limited number of wheelchair accessible places in the stalls of the Wilde Theatre. If you or one of your guests has limited mobility, please speak to one of our Box Office team on 01344 484123 before booking.

Please note, mobility scooters are not permitted in performance spaces, however, we do have a wheelchair that our customers can use to transfer into their purchased seat. Please inform our Box Office team when booking so they can assign you the most suitable seats for your needs.

Parking

There are free reserved parking spaces for Blue Badge holders in front of the building.

RADAR and Accessible Toilets

Our ground floor accessible toilet near the Atrium Restaurant and Bar is available to RADAR keyholders only.  Further accessible toilets are available on the ground floor of the Wilde Theatre foyer and on the first floor of the Mansion building (via use of the lift).

Helpers and Carers

Helpers and carers accompanying wheelchair users to a performance receive a complimentary ticket. Please tell the Box Office when buying your tickets.

Assisted Hearing Facilities

The Wilde and Studio Theatres have a Sennheiser infra-red system installed. There are headsets available for use with or without a hearing aid.

Please be aware that there is a £5 deposit on the night.

Please inform the Box Office of your requirements when booking.

The cinema is fitted with an audio induction loop. Customers can use the T-setting on their hearing aids for clear film sound.

Guide and Hearing Dogs

If you wish to bring your guide dog to a performance or course, please let us know when booking. This will allow us to arrange seating with suitable access.

Community Outreach

It costs £25,000 a week to keep South Hill Park open, allowing us to run our vast community outreach programme

Visitors

We welcome 220,000 visitors annually with 185,000 participating in our arts programme

Learning and Participation

5000 people of all ages join our courses and workshops with 2000 students taking part in community activities

In-house Productions

We host 21 amateur theatre and music groups each year, and produce up to 6 in-house productions annually to help encourage local talent

Schools

We provide local primary and secondary schools with workshops, classes, tours, lessons and talks with industry professionals, and offer holiday activities for over 160 young people

Dementia Friendly Screenings

We show 12 dementia-friendly screenings a year in our cinema, specially-designed for people living with dementia and their carers

Resident Companies

We house 3 resident theatre and dance companies for young people

Volunteers

We support over 100 volunteers and annually provide 20 work experience places for students from the arts
