South Hill Park Presents
Community theatre is an integral part of the programme here at South Hill Park. Each year, we produce musicals, dramas and comedies featuring a cast of talented local performers.
The community productions encapsulate our mission to nourish a creative community, to create experiences to engage the local population, and to nurture talent – celebrating the artists of today while developing the artists of tomorrow.
Each production is produced by a professional creative team who nurture, train and up-skill the community company – who participate free-of-charge following a successful audition. Cast members often range in age from 8 to 80 – no one is too young or too old as long as they come with bags of enthusiasm.
The quality of our community productions is exceptional, often compared to the west-end or to professional touring theatre. And it is right here, on your doorstep.

Offering a foot in the door… and so much more
Community theatre is one of the creative pillars that makes South Hill Park so special. We may be a venue in the middle of Bracknell Forest, but our reputation is one of producing shows to a ‘West-End standard’.
Our community theatre is important to us for so many reasons – it’s about bringing people together, enabling them to express themselves and build confidence. It’s about giving people skills that they take into their lives, beyond their time just at South Hill Park and beyond the stage. And the best part is that it’s open to all – anyone can audition and get involved.
We talked to Mark Hooper, our Learning, Participation and Community Engagement Director and Amy Pottinger, both of whom have experienced first hand what these opportunities can bring.
Every time you choose to visit, donate, become a member, take part, hire a space or see a show at South Hill Park, you directly impact our ability to support community theatre, so that we can support emerging artists and technicians, tell stories and create opportunities for real, meaningful community connection. You are South Hill Park.
