This is a three-hour practical illustration workshop for adults, focused on mark making, texture and experimentation using found objects, Indian ink and watercolour. The workshop will introduce participants to a range of mark-making techniques and encourage them to create their own tools from everyday and found materials.
Through a series of short exercises, they will explore how different objects, pressures, movements and combinations of ink and watercolour can produce different textures, tones and visual effects. Demonstrations of simple ways of creating animals, characters, flora and fauna that participants can adapt for their own work.
The session will be structured in two main stages: Experimentation: participants create and test their own mark-making tools and produce a series of small studies exploring texture, pattern, tone and line. Final piece: participants use the techniques and marks they have developed to create an individual winter-inspired landscape. There will be opportunities for participants to share ideas and materials, compare results and develop their own approaches.
