Four friends. One house. No jobs. No money. And absolutely no idea what they’re doing with their lives.
Fresh out of university, Phoebe, George, Hunter and Charlie move into their first house together, convinced that this is the beginning of their adult lives. But as the reality of rent, work, relationships, family and responsibility begins to set in, their carefully constructed futures start to unravel.
Phoebe is chasing her dream of becoming a performer while battling rejection and the feeling that she’s disappointed her family. George is determined to keep hold of his youth, whilst struggling with the fallout of coming out and the loss of his family. Hunter is desperate to return to the sporting career he thought would define his future, despite an injury threatening to change everything. And Charlie, the seemingly sensible one, is hiding more than she’s letting on.
As nights out turn into arguments, friendships are tested and the pressure of simply becoming an adult begins to take its toll, the four housemates are forced to confront a question none of them are quite ready to answer: What happens when university ends, childhood is over, and you’re not quite ready to be an adult?
In-Between is a funny, raw and sometimes chaotic new play about friendship, identity, ambition, addiction, disappointment and the strange, messy period of life when you’re expected to have everything figured out — even though you’re only just figuring yourself out.
