Little Explorers is a gentle, nature-based creative programme for children aged 0–5 and their caregivers, offering a calm and welcoming space for young children to connect with nature through sensory play, creativity and open-ended exploration. Held within the beautiful grounds of South Hill Park, sessions take place in a dedicated studio space while also making use of open grass areas and woodland, allowing children to experience the changing seasons in an immersive and meaningful way.
The autumn term is delivered as a 5-session block across 10 weeks, supporting familiarity, confidence and a sense of belonging while maintaining flexibility for families. Each session is thoughtfully designed around a seasonal theme using natural and sustainable materials such as leaves, spices, natural inks and foraged elements, with activities gently guided but open-ended so children can engage in their own way. Sessions typically begin with a gentle introductory story or activity and include a main creative invitation, sensory exploration and opportunities for free play and discovery.
Activities are carefully layered to support a wide age range, from babies exploring textures, movement and heuristic play, to toddlers engaging in hands-on mark-making, collecting and collaging, through to preschoolers developing imaginative play, problem-solving and more intentional creating using natural materials and tools.
