In this series of creative writing workshops involving short exercises and discussion, writer Lynn Hamilton will help you strengthen your writing, identify ways to build narrative control, and move beyond structure to develop voice, tone and emotional depth. Pick one workshop of interest or all three to progress through the fundamentals of the craft of writing. Please bring a notebook, a pen, and any story fragments or plot ideas you’d like to work on.
There will be a short break mid-way through each workshop.
The aim of this workshop is to help writers develop their narrative control and shape their experiences into compelling stories with clear beginnings, middles, and endings.
We will use exercises and discussion to understand basic story structure, identify the central theme or ‘spine’ of your stories, improve your openings and endings, and explore how you can avoid rambling narratives.
