STONE LITHOGRAPHY is a magical method of printmaking that relies on a chemical balancing act of grease and water on the sensitive surface of a special kind of limestone.

Invented in Bavaria in 1798, it developed into a major form of industrial printing as well as attracting renowned artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Rauschenberg and Hockney.

Join Simon Burder, master lithographer and experienced teacher from Oaks Editions Lithography Studio, to explore this versatile medium, capable of reproducing diverse imagery, from delicate crayon to splashy washes, from collaged textures to expressive brushwork.

On this two-day workshop you will learn how to prepare a stone, draw and process an image, and print a small edition. Printing papers will be available for purchase.
