MAY NEWSLETTER

With your amazing support, we made it to the finals of the Muddy Stilettos Awards for Best Arts and Culture Venue. We may not have taken home the top prize, but we came so close and that means the world to us. Take a look below for more good news.

INTRODUCTION TO PRINTMAKING TASTER
Thu 15 May
We joined residents at Orchard Court’s over-55s weekly coffee morning for a joyful printmaking session led by our Artist in Residence, Basia Gorska. Using foraged garden materials, participants explored various techniques and proudly created their own printed artworks. Interested in hosting a workshop at your organisation or event? Contact our Learning and Participation Team at nicola.lightfoot@nullsouthhillpark.org.uk.

BRACKNELL TOGETHER WALK
Sun 18 May
It was wonderful to see the Bracknell Together Walk in full swing, with so many locals coming together to support their chosen charities. Organised by Easthampstead Rotary Club and starting from our grounds, some of our staff also took part. Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity helped us raise £485 towards our youth programmes, helping us make the arts more accessible to young people in our community.

DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK EVENT
Tue 20 May

Allan Matthews and Mike Miles from our Dementia Friendly Screening team recently took part in Bracknell Town Council’s Dementia Action Week event, helping raise awareness and sharing insights on how to reduce the risk of dementia. Did you know that we offer Dementia Friendly Screenings? Our next screening is West Side Story on Mon 9 June at 2pm. Book your tickets here.

STUDIO THEATRE PRODUCTIONS
Your support brings bold theatre to life in our intimate 50-seat black box space, where emerging companies present both new and classic works. Our recent production of 1984 by David Stacey, performed by dedicated local volunteers, sold out—thanks to the incredible backing of our community. Every ticket you buy, donation you make, workshop you join, space you hire, or time you give helps us continue creating powerful artistic experiences. You are South Hill Park. Watch Luke Burton’s video here where he discusses the importance of black box theatres like our Studio Theatre space.

CONGRATS TO OUR CERAMICS TUTOR
We’re delighted to announce that our Artist in Residence and head of our Ceramics team, Kim Whelton, has been accepted onto the MA Ceramics course at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, beginning this September. This next step will allow Kim to further develop her contemporary ceramics practice. We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and excited to see the inspiring work this new chapter will bring.
