JULY NEWSLETTER 2025

August 13, 2025

JULY NEWSLETTER

Take a look at our July news and the summer fun we have lined up, from free and low-cost family activities to thrilling whodunit auditions.

PAINT IT FORWARD
This month we received a generous donation of art supplies from Daler-Rowney, one of our Corporate Partners. The materials will be put to great use throughout our summer programme and beyond. We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership – not only for their in-kind contributions, but also for their sponsorship of one of our art studios. Daler-Rowney’s continued support plays a vital role in helping us make the arts accessible to everyone, and are a valued part of our community.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES & WORKSHOPS
July – Sept 2025
Keeping the kids entertained over summer without going over budget is tough. That’s why we’ve packed the holidays with fun and affordable activities. Many workshops are low-cost, and some are totally free. Check out all the workshop details in our leaflet and book your spots here. We’re grateful for the generous support of the Abri Community Fund and our local Town and Parish Council, which helps make these activities possible.

WILDE ABOUT ARTS
We were thrilled to offer the young carers, at The Wayz Community Centre, a free spray-painting workshop with our new Wilde About Arts tutor, Kellie Neighbour. They explored colour layering, stencilling, and created a collaborative canvas now proudly on display. Wilde About Arts offers a fun, creative space for young carers aged 7–17 to connect and unwind. With 21 participants across two age groups and 100% keen to return, the feedback speaks for itself. Know a young carer who could benefit? Please find further information here.

CLAY WORKSHOP
We were delighted to welcome students from Odyssey House School, designed to support neurodiverse pupils who find mainstream education challenging. During their visit, the students took part in a clay workshop exploring the theme of community, reflecting on what it means to them. Each pupil created their own unique clay model to take home, making for a thoughtful and creative experience.

THROUGH THE DECADES
Sat 5 July
Our Wilde Young Producers recently hosted their first-ever Live Music Cabaret Night in the Cellar Bar. This event was completely produced and run by the team themselves – from hosting, performing, and tech support to booking supporting guest acts. Know someone aged 15–20 who’d love to learn event production? Find out more here.

WILDE WEEK 2025
Mon 7 – Fri 11 July
Our annual children’s arts festival, Wilde Week, welcomed 687 pupils this year. With the enthusiastic support of our Wilde Young Producers, students engaged in a variety of fun and imaginative workshops, including drama, dance, puppetry, games, and art. As part of our ongoing Healthy Lifestyles project, in partnership with Public Health England, the week also featured educational sessions on balanced diets and food groups, helping us extend our health education resources to even more young people. Watch the 2025 Wilde Week video here.

CULTURE & COMMUNITY DAY 2025
Sat 19 July, The Lexicon Shopping Centre
We had an incredible time at the Bracknell Forest’s Culture and Community Day on Saturday. This year’s event attracted 24 stalls with live entertainment, community yoga, and performances celebrating local culture. Thank you to everyone who took part in our guessing game, purchased raffle tickets and celebrated with us the vibrant traditions and community groups that make Bracknell such a special place. Yes, we’ve got geese on our heads – all in the spirit of our upcoming pantomime, Mother Goose and the Golden Egg.

E-SCOOTER PROJECT
May – July 2025
We recently teamed up with students from Garth Hill College and King’s Academy Easthampstead Park for a printmaking project focused on e-scooter safety. With over a million e-scooter journeys happening weekly across the UK, safety, especially the fire risks from damaged or faulty batteries, is a growing concern. To raise awareness, South Hill Park partnered with Abri Homes, Bracknell Police, and Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service to explore how visual arts can inspire change.
