Thank you for celebrating with us
We had an amazing time celebrating 50 years of South Hill Park with Showing Off! last month. Thank you to everyone who came along to see the show, and to everyone who took part – it couldn’t have happened without you. Even our past Chief Executives came together to share their experiences and watch the wonderful production (see photo). It was a lovely trip down memory lane.
We hope you continue to support South Hill Park in any way you can so we can provide the arts for another 50 years!
New resident ceramicist
We are excited to introduce our new resident ceramicist Kim Whelton.
As well as teaching on our regular courses, look out for a new intensive throwing workshop and children’s ceramics courses with Kim starting in January.

Adventures in Art by the 11-17 Art Club
A selection of artwork made by participants of the 11-17 at the Library Art Club will be on display from Sun 19 Nov – Sun 24 Dec. The group is a weekly art session for young people in which they are introduced to a new visual arts or craft skill by artist Areej Abdi. The group is kindly hosted by Bracknell Libraries and has received generous support from Daler-Rowney.
The artworks on display were chosen by the group and you can find out more about 11-17 here.
Indian arts workshop
Last month we held an Indian Arts session where the children got to try traditional India arts of Rangoli Sand and Warli pot painting under the guidance of artists Ekta, Anusha and Sangeeta.
It was a wonderful experience and both the participants and teachers had great fun.
Summer at the Park
When chatting to Peter Stark, South Hill Park’s first CEO, he mentioned a wonderful summer of festivals back in 1975. South Hill Park played host to the legendary Bracknell Jazz Festival, the Mouldiwarp Folk festival and indeed a community outdoor performance of Bartlemy Fair featuring the Mike Westbook Brass Band.
Peter tells us that a film called Summer at the Park was made that year, on Super8mm film. Despite several attempts we have been unable to locate the film itself which would prove a valuable historic archive for South Hill Park.
Do you or anyone you know still hold a copy of the film (probably the only copy)? If so please get in touch with marketing@nullsouthhillpark.org.uk.
LOOK.LISTEN.FIND exhibition
Have you seen the new exhibition on our interactive wall at the Grand Staircase?
This is an interactive exhibition with illustrations by Darrell Kingsley and musical passages by James Armstrong. It is inspired by specific architectural elements and spaces at South Hill Park along with 12 short musical passages giving you the chance to make your own, momentary composition.
Just tap the hands and see what you create.
