Come and audition for the Studio Theatre Company’s production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Tue 15 & Wed 16 Feb from 6.30pm. Call backs are on Thu 17 Feb.

The production takes place from Wed 15 – Sat 18 June, with rehearsals starting week beginning Mon 21 Feb on Mon and Wed evenings (TBC).

About the play

A complex marriage, unwelcome guests and a big secret!

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf paints a harsh reality of love and marriage. The play centres on the fiery, challenging and toxic marriage between Martha and George – a middle aged couple. One late evening brings two unwelcome guests, Nick and Honey, and eventually after multiple manipulative games and bitter words, a huge secret is revealed.

Characters

  • George
    A 46-year-old member of the history department at New Carthage University. George is married to Martha, in a once loving relationship now defined by sarcasm and frequent acrimony.

 

  • Martha
    Martha is the 52-year-old daughter of the president of New Carthage University. She is married to George, though disappointed with his aborted academic career. She attempts to have an affair with Nick.

 

  • Nick
    Nick has just become a new member of the biology faculty at New Carthage University. He is 28 years old, good-looking, Midwestern, and clean-cut. He is married to Honey.

 

  • Honey
    Honey is the petite, bland wife of Nick. She is 26 years old, has a weak stomach, and is not the brightest bulb of the bunch.
