South Hill Park would like to share a huge thank you to everyone who has generously donated to our recent major fundraising campaign, including the first 100 monthly donors. The campaign was launched in June due to the impact of Covid-19 and has already raised over £310,000 with the help of the local community and a successful grant application from the Culture Recovery Fund. On Tuesday 1 December to coincide with global ‘Giving Tuesday’ – a day where people are encouraged to volunteer their time, donate money, food or clothes, or campaign for a cause close to their heart and community – we have made our Christmas wish – STAR 1000.
We hope to inspire 1000 ‘stars’ to give £5 or more a month and raise at least £60,000 a year. This will help to ensure the Arts Centre’s future so we can continue to provide entertainment, support and inspiration to our community in Bracknell and surrounding areas for many years to come. Along with many other UK theatres and arts centres, South Hill Park was again forced to close from 5 November following the Government’s latest measures to combat the Covid-19 outbreak. South Hill Park has launched STAR 1000 to encourage the public to join us in protecting the Arts Centre now and for the future.
Sir Kenneth Branagh has shared his support for South Hill Park saying in his appeal, ‘it’s vital that we do everything we can to protect the arts in our community and to protect South Hill Park… South Hill Park inspires us, it connects us, and it enriches our lives.’
The STAR 1000 campaign is also receiving support from the stars behind our much-loved pantomimes, including Joyce Branagh, the writer of the 2018 production Dick Whittington, for which she received a Great British Pantomime Award, Aladdin (2019) and the postponed production of Cinderella, coming to the Arts Centre in 2021. Keep an eye on the South Hill Park Facebook page to see these familiar festive faces share why the cause is so important to them.
If you would like to support STAR 1000, please visit southhillpark.org.uk/donate today, and make a monthly donation of £5 or more to protect your Arts Centre.
