Making South Hill Park Covid-Safe

South Hill Park Arts Centre has implemented a number of measures to ensure our customers and staff are safe during their visit – whether they are visiting the Atrium Bar & Restaurant, seeing a live performance, watching a cinema screening, attending one of our many courses & workshops, taking a look round an exhibition, or having a celebration/function in one of our beautiful rooms to hire.

Our priority is the health and well-being of all that come to the Arts Centre, so we have been closely following Government guidelines and will continue to do so to ensure we are always a safe venue for visitors.

Throughout the building, we have put the following measures in place:

  • Clear signage and one-way systems
  • Regular and thorough cleaning
  • Hand sanitiser stations
  • Protective equipment for staff
  • Face coverings to be worn by all visitors inside the building (unless you are exempt). Face coverings are optional outdoors unless event information specifies otherwise
  • Encouraging cash-free payments.

Booking your tickets
Pre-booking your tickets is essential. To reduce contact, tickets will only be available to book online and print via email. You will not be able to collect tickets from the Box Office. If you are able to open your tickets, from your email, on your mobile phone or tablet, you can just show them to us on this device rather than printing them at home.

When booking your tickets, we ask that you book only for members of your own household, or members of your support bubble household.

Should South Hill Park be forced to close due to the Covid-19 situation and your booking is cancelled, we will offer the opportunity to donate the cost of your ticket, receive credit on your account, or ask for a full refund.

Arriving at the theatre
We ask that if you, or any of your party, meet any of the following criteria on the day of the performance, that you do not attend:

  • In the last 7 days, have developed a new, continuous cough, lost your sense of smell or taste, or had a high temperature.
  • In the last 21 days, have tested positive for Covid-19.
  • In the last 21 days, have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • In the last 21 days, have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace system and told to self-isolate.

When you arrive for your scheduled performance, you may need to queue to get into the building. Please observe 1m+ social distancing and wear your face mask when queuing, and inside the building.

In order to protect our customers and staff, we will ask that you have a temperature check before you enter the theatre building. This will be done using a contact-free thermometer by a member of staff who will be wearing the appropriate protective equipment. If your temperature check comes back as too high, you and your group will be asked to return home and your tickets will be refunded.

There will be multiple hand sanitiser stations set up around the building. Please use upon entering the building and before and after touching anything in the building.

Taking your seats
You will need to follow the one-way route through the building, which is marked by clear signage and floor markers.

Seats will be allocated based on your household booking groups. All groups will be socially distanced from one another, using the 1m+ system. Face masks are optional outdoors, but are mandatory indoors.

One-way system
Please follow the one-way system which will be clearly signposted. Your ticket information will provide specific details about entering the building depending on whether you are attending a performance in the Wilde Theatre or Cinema, an exhibition, or a course/workshop.

Facilities and refreshments
The Atrium Bar & Restaurant will be open, serving a variety of hot and cold food and drink before the show. All payments will be cashless, with contactless card payments being available and preferable.

The toilet facilities in the Atrium Bar and Wilde Theatre will be open; however, we will be limiting the number of people allowed in these spaces at any one time.

We strongly advise you pre-order your pre-show and interval drinks. To do so please email catering@nullsouthhillpark.org.ukyou can find the drinks list here.

If you pre-order your drinks, they will be awaiting collection as you enter the building. Please note that the Wilde Bar will be closed at all times due to health & safety, and the Atrium Bar will be closing at 6pm, so no bar service will be available after this time if you do not pre-order your drinks.

Your privacy and NHS Test and Trace
If you are visiting our venue we will collect your booking data, so that we can take part in the NHS Test and Trace service and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The government has asked organisations to do this in order to keep our visitors and employees safe.

If you start to display symptoms of Covid-19 (a new, continuous cough, lost sense of smell or taste, or a high temperature), we advise you to book a test for Covid-19 via the Government’s website. If you test positive, you will need to inform the NHS Test and Trace team that you have attended the theatre when they contact you. They will then collect data from us about who else attended this event, and inform those customers.

In view of the most recent rules of no more than 6 people able to meet together are the scheduled courses going ahead in September?

Hi Wendy. Yes, the courses are currently going ahead and haven’t been affected by the new law due to the social distancing measures we have put in place.

What arrangements are you putting in place for the continuation of the art courses?

Hi Sonia. The steps outlined plus social distancing within the studios with a reduced number of students where appropriate. Face masks must also be worn and equipment will be cleaned. Extra cleaning of studios will also be taking place.

I have some credit from previously cancelled shows due to the Pandemic and would like to purchase tickets to Chicago how an I able do this online?

If I want to book the comedy with 3 friends how do I do that? Is that 4 separate bookings or do we sit together?

Hi Kelvin, thank you for your message. Guidance still states that you must remain socially distanced from people who are not in your household or bubble, so a group of friends all wishing to come together should book separately, unless part of the same household or bubble. Also there should be no groups of more than 6 unless one household. I hope that helps you to decide your booking details. Thank you.

How does cinema booking work so you can sit next to a member of your own household
or sit social distanced from a friend?

Hi Sue, thank you for your message. We have set up the cinema seating plan to allow for social distancing. Please only book seats together if you are part of the same household or bubble. Thank you.

If we book tickets for three shows in November and the virus gets worse causing them to be cancelled would a full refund be given out.
