Open auditions for summer 2020 – Into The Woods

November 7, 2019

Artemis College is partnering with South Hill Park and SPH to present Into the Woods Jr. for summer 2020!

We are looking for a cast of 40 young performers aged 16-18, and a training crew
aged 16-19.

You will be trained and mentored by professional theatre makers for two weeks before
you perform Into the Woods Jr. which will run for a week in the amphitheatre in the
grounds of South Hill Park in August 2020.

We are looking for actors for lead and supporting roles.
As well as rehearsing for and appearing in the show – every participant will work towards
a recognised creative qualification at Level 1-3 depending on their experience.
It is free to audition and participate if you are aged 16-18 (actors) or 16-19 (crew).

Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods JR. features all of your favourite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centres on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who
wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
The Jr version has been adapted for performers in training. The one act show will perform twice a day for a full week.

Auditions: February 2020 – please register interest by emailing: niki.robinson@nullartemis.college

Rehearsals and performances: August 10th- 30th – you need to be free on all days.
Ages: 16-18 years (actors) 16-19 (training crew)

How to book an audition: Please email.

Cost: Free to workshop, free to audition, free to participate.
