The Battle’s Over a fitting tribute to WW1 Centenary

November 15, 2018

The huge success of the special centenary of the end of WW1 community event in Bracknell Sun 11 Nov, 2018 was a real team effort. Battle’s Over took place at South Hill park’s North Lake and around the South Hill Park mansion, which included an art competition display and a special cinema screening of ‘They Shall Not Grow Old‘.

Chaired by Cllr Graham Birch, Bracknell Town Council Community Events Committee insisted that the success relied heavily on real team work and passed their thanks on to helpers, volunteers and everyone who gave their support.

Over the course of the day around 7000 local residents attended the event. The re-enactment of the Christmas Day Truce football match marked the start of the commemoration event and ended with the Star Fireworks grand finale which made this a truly memorable centenary occasion.
