Let us transport you to the Victorian era as South Hill Park presents Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on the Wilde Theatre stage from February 10.
This musical thriller is South Hill Park’s second in-house production of the year, following hot on the heels of the huge success that was One Man, Two Guvnors in January.
Sweeney Todd follows the journey of Benjamin Barker, a kind and loving father with nothing but love in his heart… until a jealous Judge punishes him for a crime he did not commit, and sends him off to Australia.
Barker returns but not as himself, he arrives back to gloomy London as the transformed Sweeney Todd, with an insatiable hunger for revenge against those who separated him from his wife and child.
A blood-thirsty tale of revenge, love, loss, tragedy and more meat than Mrs Lovett could ever hope for, this production is set to be one of our best yet, with professional actor Paul Taylor playing the principle lead, Sweeney Todd.
This musical hardly pauses for breath as Todd’s need for revenge spirals wildly out of control.
