Our VE70 celebrations here at South Hill Park on Friday went off with a swing and a bang, attracting around 2,300 local people in spite of the rain.
The event, commissioned by Bracknell Forest Council and organised by South Hill Park, was to celebrate 70 years since peace was declared in Europe.
Members of the local community flocked to the picturesque grounds in their droves to listen to the London Swing Orchestra, and a visual display which included a light show, a poignant speech by a WW2 veteran, projections on the mansion and a finale of fireworks. Many families also made origami doves to hang on our peace tree.
And when the fireworks were all over, we even had a conga line going around the terrace!
We have had many positive comments about the event and look forward to welcoming many of you back again in August for our one-day music festive, Party at the Park.
