South Hill Park is looking for community actors to take part in The Borrowers, directed by Joe Malyan, taking place in the Wilde Theatre from Thursday 29th October to Saturday 31st October.
This is a family production aimed at children aged 8+. The set will be design by Victoria Spearing.
Join Arrietty, Pod and Homilly on their adventure through the gigantic world of the ‘Human Bean’s’ in this classic retelling of the traditional story.
Character Breakdown:
Arrietty Clock – age 16-25. Arrietty is the only daughter of Pod and Homily. All her life she has wanted to join her father as he wanders through the mysterious house of the ‘big people’ looking for anything which can be ‘borrowed’ for the good of the family. She is adventurous, brave and playful.
Pod Clock– age 40-50. Pod is the leader of the clock family, chief borrower, husband and father. He comes from a long line of Borrowers, and takes his work very seriously. Pod is sincere, but young at heart.
Homilly – age 35-50. Homily is the worrier of the family. She frets every time Pod leaves the safety of their grandfather clock. She keeps a clean and tidy house. She abhors dirt and dislikes the outdoors.
The Boy – age 16-25. Housebound by illness, the Boy is an adventurer. Like all boys of his age, he is almost always grubby and barefoot, preferring life outdoors than inside the stuffy house.
Mrs Driver – age 40+. The warden of the house. She is strict, stern and sometimes borders on cruel. She also keeps a clean and well-ordered house.
Rehearsals will take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday daytimes starting on the 11th July and running through until production week.

Hello,
This sounds fab, but I am teaching all day (from 11 till 5) at South Hill Park on your audition day. What time will they finish, please. I’d like to audition, but don’t know if you’d be able to squeeze me in somewhere on that day? Annoying, as I’ll be there, but not there!!
Many thanks
Caroline
