Former Wilde Bar unveiled after stunning makeover

February 11, 2015

A new performance space offering performers a chance to shine and theatre goers a place to relax has been opened at South Hill Park thanks to a £10,000 donation from Waitrose.

The Wilde Upstairs was officially opened above The Wilde Theatre on Tuesday (Feb 10).

On the opening night of the theatre’s production of Blood Brothers The Play, singers performed songs from the musical version of the show to Bracknell borough mayor Councillor Andy Blatchford.

Deputy town mayor Cllr Mark Phillips, Tina Varns, of Waitrose, and Geoffrey Taylor Chair of South Hill Park Trust joined Cllr Blatchford to cut the ribbon.

The new space will be open during shows for cabaret performances but will also be open throughout the day as an extension to The Atrium bar at South Hill Park.

Visitors will be able to buy coffee, snacks and other refreshments downstairs before relaxing in The Wilde Upstairs.
