Review: Jekyll and Hyde

February 16, 2015

On Thursday 12 February two staff members of SHP were invited to Sell A Door’s press night of Jekyll and Hyde in London. Read below to find out what they thought…

We sat in our seats with anticipation and were not disappointed. The energy of the piece was explosive from curtain up to the curtain call. Despite there only being three actors playing numerous roles, the play did not lack in drive. Lead actor, Nathan Ives-Moiba, playing the title roles stole the show for both of us. His physicality showed clear understanding of the split personality of Doctor Jekyll. It was obvious this part had been meticulously rehearsed under the direction of the young and talented David Hutchinson and complemented perfectly by Lyle Barke and Rowena Lennon. The minimalistic set, although simple, was as powerful as the lighting, which outshone the rest of London that night. Last, but no means least, we could not fault the script; cleverly adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel. Jo Clifford reimagined an old classic for today’s modern world.

Our verdict, we LOVED it! Emily and John x
