‘Tis the Season to Celebrate at South Hill Park

December 3, 2014

As visions of chestnuts warming on an open fire, mulled wine with mince pies and It’s a Wonderful Life start to fill everyone’s mind, South Hill Park is delighted to announce that it has the festive season well and truly wrapped up this Christmas time.

As you wonder in disbelief at where 2014 has gone, the arts centre is proud to say their theatrical seasons this year have been varied and popular, and it is safe to say this festive term’s programme will be no exception!

Coming up this December is everything rom music entertainment (including good old tribute acts!), a fantastic comedy genius, and of course some festive shows.

If you passed Paul Bacon by in the street, there’s no doubting you would do a double take. He is the essence and spitting image of Sir Elton John, in looks and in sound; what’s not to love for a fantastic evening of musical entertainment?! You simply will not find a closer tribute act to the real deal. Ultimate Elton & the Rocket Band will offer a classic live show of one of pop music’s most successful and best-loved artists of all time.

South Hill Park also plays host to another tribute act from music past – The Mods – who focus on an era as opposed to a single band. The Mods have toured throughout the world with their reputation for delivering an entertaining and exciting performance with a dash of humour and outstanding musicianship. The Mods Christmas Show is not one to be missed.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper sparkling December at South Hill Park without some cracking festive goodies on offer. As one the UK’s premier gospel choirs (with performances on The Voice UK and Must be the Music under their belt), CK Gospel Choir will be visiting the arts centre with a promise of a fantastic Christmassy performance, including tracks from their seasonal album CK Christmas.

Something completely different but equally as jovial is Slingshot Theatre’s Nativity in Creakebottom. Gus Blatherouth and his am-dram group are put in charge of a Nativity production to see that it promotes the real meaning of Christmas, but when top dog producer offers him fame and fortune, Gus is left to decide what matters the most. The Stage has called it ‘face-hurtingly funny’, and with the blossoming theatre company’s reputation leaving audiences with aching sides, you won’t be disappointed.

[vc_testimonial author=”Ron McAllister” company=”SHP CEO”] I am so proud of what we’ve achieved here at South Hill Park this year and our December shows are just testament to such a successful year. We can’t forget our reputation for providing laughs and of course our penchant for tribute acts provides some variety that we’re so proud to promote here. Our festive shows start the excitement for a fantastic Christmas season, and who can forget our celebrated and critically-acclaimed pantomime, Aladdin! If you haven’t booked your seats already, do so, it’s set to be a corker… Merry Christmas to you all. [/vc_testimonial]

December looks to be a smashing month at South Hill Park, and a wonderful way to see off a fantastic year. A full programme of events and more details can be found on the What’s On pages.
