Calling all aspiring theatre technicians aged 11–16! This summer, discover what it truly takes to bring a production to life from behind the curtain. In just 10 days, you’ll join a team of young backstage professionals-in-training, working hands-on with industry experts in a fully equipped professional theatre. Together, you’ll mount a full-scale production of The Addams Family, and you’ll be the ones making the onstage magic possible.
Under the guidance of seasoned lighting, sound, and stage management professionals, you’ll learn the ins and outs of every technical theatre role – from focusing lights and mixing audio cues to following the script as a Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) and supporting your cast as running crew. You’ll even try your hand at building and maintaining props, discovering the craftsmanship and creativity that make a show sparkle.
Teamwork and communication are at the heart of this backstage boot camp. You and your fellow technicians will work closely with the performers, designers, and directors, learning to keep the show running seamlessly from the wings. By the final curtain, you’ll have gained real-world skills, forged lasting friendships, and experienced the thrill of being an essential part of a professional production team.
This is your chance to step behind the scenes, discover the craft of backstage artistry, and prove that the magic onstage starts with dedicated, focused teamwork offstage. Don’t just watch the show – help create it! Secure your place today and get ready to run the show from behind the curtain.
