Melanie Paice is an artist, art tutor and lecturer. Melanie predominantly works with oil paint but enjoys creating using a variety of media. She paints on a range of different surfaces including slate, exploring the properties of oil paint through a range of subject matter. Her most visited subject matter is landscape and seascape. Melanie has an interest in repurposing discarded materials and also has a keen concern with helping students create less waste within their painting practice.
Melanie has been teaching and giving art lectures for 10 years. Prior to teaching she worked at Tate Modern and Tate Britain for over 7 years managing both the Tours programme and the Volunteers. Melanie likes to draw on her knowledge of other artists’ work to explore their styles and techniques for at least one project each term. Melanie wishes her classes to be sociable and relaxed in order for students to build confidence using oil paint.
