Please note this is a 10 week course with a one week half term break.

For beginners and improvers, our ten week watercolour course will cover both traditional watercolour techniques as well as exploring more unconventional processes. Each week we shall find inspiration with different topics and explore how this beautiful medium can be used in various ways.

MATERIALS:
Drawing materials and additional materials will be provided but students are required to bring along the following art materials –

Waterproof fine liner pens (0.3 is a good nib size but you can purchase a set of pens which have a nib sizes ranging from 0.05-0.8mm). I would recommend Uni Pin Black Fine Pens (set of 5) which can be purchased from Cowling and Wilcox website (https://www.cowlingandwilcox.com/fineliners/372-uni-pin-black-fine-line-pens-set-of-5)

Watercolour brushes: no 4, 6 and 10 soft round brushes and a 3/4” flat wash brush. Daler Rowney ‘Graduate’ brushes are good quality brushes.

Watercolour paints in either pan or tube. Pan sets; Winsor and Newton Cotman 12 pan set is a good starter set. Or for tube paints; Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolour tubes are great. Art Discount website is the most reasonable for tubes at the moment. The colours you will require whether using pan sets or tubes will be: yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber, alizarin crimson, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, lemon yellow.

Masking fluid (any brand will be fine, the fluid typically comes in either a blue colour or white, either will do).
masking tape (standard width 24mm)

Palettes (optional)
Jar or pot for water (optional)

Drawing board (optional). These can be purchased from Hobbycraft or art shops. Alternatively you can make your own just using a piece of board/ pdf etc… These need to be A3 size as this will be the largest size we will work on.

You can purchase art materials at art stores, such as Cass Art, Pullingers, The Range or Hobbycraft.
Of course you could also shop online at Amazon, Cass Art, Jacksons Art, Art Discount and Cowling and Wilcox.

Remember we have some materials if you should forget anything, but it’s best to have your own materials in case you wish to continue working on paintings at home.
