Embroidery

Please note this is a 10 week course with a one week half term break.

This course will help you to discover the beauty of embroidery by teaching you the amazing variety of stitches and techniques you can use to create your own designs. You will focus on quality stitching, develop your confidence and be inspired to realise your own designs and to create beautiful works of embroidery.

We will cover preparation techniques, including framing up and tracing designs. If you are new to embroidery you will learn the most useful and most commonly used stitches; if you are returning to embroidery you will be encouraged to develop your skills, learn and become confident with new stitches and techniques and to create your own designs. As a group we will look at different ways of designing using a variety of resources.

You will need a pencil, some light-coloured cotton fabric (eg calico), a variety of stranded cottons, different sized needles, embroidery scissors and embroidery hoop. Additional items can be purchased from the tutor during the class
