Colour Mixing and Rainbow Rolls Two-Day Workshop

Learn how to create your own colour palettes and how to mix almost any colour using only five basic inks. During the first day of the workshop you will build your own colour wheel out of blue, red, yellow, black and white. From there, you will learn a method to recreate and blend almost any colour. We will work on how to recognise and build different colour palettes in art works. Towards the end of the class you will be able to create your own palette for your print and will have a lot of swatches to use as a reference for your future works.

On the second day of the workshop Basia will teach you the art of creating smooth and seamless gradients using a roller. You will learn how to mix the right proportions of ink to achieve the perfect hues for your rainbow rolls, as well as how to create sheer gradients for a more delicate effect. Rainbow rolls work really well as a background for all kinds of printmaking techniques such as monoprints, etchings, linocuts to name a few. They also look stunning on their own.

All materials are provided but additional paper can be purchased from the print room if you want it.
