Please note this is a 10 week course with a one-week half term (w/b Mon 10 Mar).
This class includes ballet and contemporary dance techniques. It is a style of expressive dance that also combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Classical/Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and techniques.
It is a dance class with a difference.
Wear – Dance sneakers or Ballet pumps, tights/leggings/ tracksuit bottoms, shirt or leotard, comfortable clothing.
Di has dance teaching qualifications in:
IDTA – International Dance Teachers Association
AIDTA – Associate International Dance Teachers Association – Tap, Modern Jazz, Hip Hop.
Dancecor Dance Organisation – Classical /Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop.
She has also trained and studied in the Fitness industry and has gone on to qualify in Les Mills /Body Jam, Zumba, Strictly FitSteps, Aqua Aerobics, Adult 50+ Dancecise, AeroDanceFit and Peoples Exercise with Disabilities.
Di has extensive Musical Theatre experience as performer, director and choreographer across a wide spectrum of theatrical productions both Amateur and Professional.
She also ran her own Dance Academy for a number of years teaching pupils of all ages and has successfully put a number of pupils through their teaching examinations. Other pupils are currently performing professionally in various Musical Theatre and Dance Companies worldwide. She established the Mplosion Dance Company, one of the first Cross-Cultural South African Dance Companies who performed successfully at many National Arts Festivals. Di has not only performed professionally herself in Dance and Musical Theatre but has also choreographed and directed professionally working with numerous performers and theatre directors.
