My 15 year old step daughter has been doing Stagecoach for 4 years where she has learned many styles of dance. She is also taking Performing Arts GCSE with a focus on dance. She is really interested in improving her ballet skills and was wondering whether these lessons would be appropriate for her. She did try a couple of weeks at a ballet school but found it too formal and too focused on grades.

Dear Jane, this class is for anyone looking to progress their technique and there is a ‘try before you buy’ option so if she doesn’t feel the class is suitable she could just do the one session with no financial cost. If she wished to do the whole term she would then pay for that lesson and the full term of classes. I will double check with the tutor about any age restrictions and get back to you. Regards

Dear Jane. I have now heard back from our Head of Learning and Participation. If your 15yo would like to try the class or participate in it fully this is fine. Please contact our Box Office on 01344 484123 to secure a place on the course. Kind regards

Hi
Given the previous dialogue please could you confirm if this class is primarily aimed at adults or under 18’s, and what prior experience is needed? I have not attended ballet classes since I was a child which was many years ago, but would like to take it up again

Thank you

Hi Diane. The Elementary Ballet is aimed at adults (there is a separate children’s ballet course). The Elementary course sounds like the correct one for you as you have some prior experience. You can always consult with the tutor Chloe Collins at the first class to make sure you are on the most suitable course.

Hi,

I’m interested in booking this class, but wondered if you still offered a free trial. I attended ballet classes until the age of 18 but haven’t done it for quite some time so not sure if this class would be suitable for me.

Hi Janine. Yes, we still do the Try Before You Buy free first session on all adult acting and dance classes. The Elementary course seems like the most suitable for you, but you can always have a chat with the tutor Chloe Collins to see if you’d benefit more from being in the Advanced class. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am looking to take this class. I have previously danced but not danced in a 5/6 years and am not sure which level to come into. What would you recommend being the best option in order to figure out the most suitable level to join. Is it possible to do the try before you buy trail for this class and then swap into another class if the teacher believe it would be more suitable?

Thanks

Hi Kelsey. Since you have some previous ballet experience, the Elementary Ballet course does seem like the most suitable one for you. All adult dance classes have a Try Before You Buy free first session to help you deicide if you’d like to commit to the full course of 10 sessions. During that first session you can always talk to the tutor Chloe Collins and get her advice on if you need to move into the Advanced Ballet class. Hope this helps.

Hello,

Is it too late to join this class? And if I were to join now would I still have to pay the full fee even though I have already missed the first few classes? I have years of experience in dance, I dont have any ballet shoes though..is that a problem?

Thanks,

Hi Danielle. Classes can sometimes be joined part of the way through – although the full price does still have to be paid. This ballet course does still have a few places on it, so if you are interested then you can call our Box Office on 01344 484123 to book a place (you can’t book online once the course has started). The course tutor, Chloe Collins, might have some spare ballet shoes – you can contact her at chloecollins88@nullhotmail.com
