Conservatoire International Concert Series: Alan Shellard & Hamish Brown

We welcome the return of clarinettist Alan Shellard and pianist Hamish Brown. Their programme includes Sonatas by Poulenc and Brahms, Gerald Finzi’s Five Bagatelles and the Grand Duo by Weber. In between Poulenc and Brahms, we have the premiere of Alistair Jones’s “Prelude and Passacaglia” for clarinet and piano.

This is the 9th Season of Conservatoire International Concerts. The new season includes musicians from 11 different countries, all of whom are alumni of our British Music Conservatoires. For everyone in the performing arts, the recent pandemic put careers on hold. We are grateful to some of our young artists who were able to offer us online recitals. Now, at last we are presenting a full season of live concerts.

The repertoire is unashamedly from the “Classical” music of European tradition and includes some of the most challenging masterpieces in the piano, chamber and vocal genres. In the main our concerts are solo recitals but over this season we are pleased to include 2 instrumental duos and one concert with Mezzo soprano and piano. All concerts take place in the beautiful Recital Room with its fine Steinway concert grand piano. We look forward to welcoming back our audience to enjoy the wealth of wonderful music offered by our young performers.
