Dementia Friendly Screenings at South Hill Park 2019

January 10, 2019

Dementia Friendly Screenings at South Hill Park will continue through 2019

Our Dementia Friendly screenings have received much needed financial support from the Bracknell Forest Lions Club and the Bracknell Unite The Union, which will ensure they continue beyond February 2019.  These well attended and much loved screenings were set up in 2018 in partnership with Bracknell Film Society and funded by Film Hub South East.

There are approximately 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, lack of confidence has been cited as the number one reason that people living with dementia stop enjoying an active social life.  Our Dementia friendly screenings take place on the second Monday of each month and have been designed to meet the needs of people living with dementia and their carer’s. Light and sound are kept at a level which is not over whelming, a quarter of the seating is left unoccupied for comfort, the screenings are advert free and our staff are dementia friends trained.

Everyone at South Hill Park is grateful to the Lions Club of Bracknell and the Bracknell Unite The Union, for their contribution to this programme which will ensure that people with dementia and their carers can continue to enjoy the magic of cinema.
