A new version of The Beggar’s Opera set in an edgy, contemporary world.
Set in 1728 The Beggar’s Opera was one of the most influential and important pieces ever written and the precursor of Brecht’s A Threepenny Opera. Youth Music Theatre have updated the story into modern language. Set in a contemporary world to new songs and street/hip-hop dance, this comic, dark, witty and sharp show will include over 40 actors and musicians.
Youth Music Theatre UK is a national company offering the best opportunities for young people to stage new music theatre in all parts of the UK, they work with some of the most talented and passionate artistic professionals from within the music theatre industry in the UK and around the world.
YMT returns to South Hill Park following their recent success with ‘Loserville – the Musical’ last summer and ‘Great Expectations’ in 2008.
