Halloween Treats at SHP

October 23, 2015

Head on down to infamously haunted South Hill Park Arts Centre this Halloween to enjoy a line-up of fang-tastic events, that will guarantee to have ghouls and ghosts of all ages quaking in their boots and screaming for more……ahhhhhh!

For the creative fiends there’s a selection of Halloween themed workshops to choose from including, Halloween Play with Clay on Tuesday 27 October, Halloween Animated GIFs on Wednesday 28 October and for all budding movie makers, there’s a super scary Halloween Stop Frame Animation workshop on Thursday 29 October.

Professional story teller Derek Florey will be setting the mood perfectly for Halloween on Wednesday 28 October with an evening of good old fashioned spooky stories and an exhilarating ghost tour of the building.

If seeing a hair-raisingly funny but equally poignant production is more up your street this Halloween, Isosceles’ – The Vampire and Mrs Reilly is not to be missed.  Based on 1952 B-movie Mother Riley Meets the Vampire which starred horror icon Bela Lugosi and British Music Hall star Arthur Lucan, it has been said that attending this play is like spending the evening in the company of these two legendary figures.

The main events of the week rightfully culminate on the most frightening day of the year – 31 October – Halloween itself!  With the intimate and resultantly atmospheric cinema screening a spook-tacular Halloween Classic Horror Double Bill of 1958’s Dracula starring Christopher Lee at 7pm, followed by the troubling but brilliant 1973’s, The Wicker Man at 9pm.

The Atrium Bar and Restaurant will also be playing host to brilliant dj Abel on the same evening.  Abel’s DJing style includes a mix of sensual UK Garage and Psychedelia with spoken word samples incorporated into the blend of music.  If that’s not enough to excite revellers, the Atrium Bar and Restaurant will be holding a best dressed competition – so, dig out your fangs, brooms and skeleton suites and join South Hill Park in the fun this Halloween.
